Can I still say happy new year? It is my first newsletter of 2024 after all.
There has been a gentle start to the year, something I promised myself after what felt like a hectic year before. And with it, a slow and considered approach to my art practice.
I won’t beat around the bush, the state of the economy has been troubling me for a while! I worry about how people can afford the simplest of things like bread and milk. I worry about the cost of energy bills and how anyone can get on the housing ladder or even pay a mortgage. It also got me thinking about my own business, I paint fine art and make ceramics. You could say it’s a luxury business. And whilst I am told repeatedly by gallery owners - there are always people out there with the money to buy art, I started thinking more and more about the people that love art, that would love to have it in their homes but see it as an extravagance that isn’t necessarily. Everybody should get to own a little piece of something that fills them with utter joy! I see myself as a creator of beautiful things. It’s my calling, to create beauty and share it with the world. And I wanted to do this in a simple way. My aim at the start of the year was to produce a small series of beautiful yet affordable art.
I introduce my 7 oil paintings all on paper, unframed to keep the cost down. Inspired by Turner and with a wonderful contemporary yet classic feel to them. I’ve used acid free paper and beautiful quality oil paints, working on paper has enabled me to keep my costs down. But importantly you can still have a quality painting that can be mounted and framed at some point and it will look amazing!
They are now available on my website and are priced from £75.00 - £125.00
I hope you enjoy browsing this collection, I have dearly loved creating it!
